Evaluation is about determining the degree to which a
project was successfully implemented and whether it achieved its aims
and objectives.
Evaluation is a vital tool in improving the quality of
a project and in demonstrating to grant makers / funders the impact the
project is having.
Three types of evaluation are:
1) M.E. Monitoring Evaluation: the collection
of data on a projects activities and outputs eg. shelter is provided for
the homeless; the number of unemployed clients who attend a work
preparation project.
2) P.E. Process Evaluation: looks at project
implementation and how it operates. Is based on the collection of
qualitative data involving interviews reviews and observations and
usually written up as a case study.
3) I.E. Impact Evaluation: answers the
question, "Did the project achieve its aims and objectives?" I.E. is of
vital interest to grant makers/funders.
To have an outline of an evaluation strategy included
with your grant application, make a selection from the Evaluation Codes
