Community Grants

These grants are illustrative of the kinds that you may be eligible to apply for.

NRMA Crime Safe Grants Program. Supports local community crime prevention projects, helps to build safer communities and support programs that tackle the social factors that underpin involvement in crime.

The National Community Link Outreach Program assists community groups who may need assistance on a project or organizational task. National Bank staff are offered time off to assist organizations.

Living in Harmony Grants Program. Grants are designed to provide resources to community groups so that they might develop projects & find ways of getting people to work together for the common goal of promoting harmony. In 2001 – 2002 grants up to a maximum of $50,000 were available.

The QUT Community Service Grants Scheme. The scheme benefits local communities through the involvement of QUT. staff & students in schemes which give them the opportunity to apply their professional & learned skills. $200,000 was available in 2000.

Regional Solutions Programme is a Federal Government scheme aimed at helping regional, rural and remote communities to build their capacity & to identify and implement development opportunities. Grants of between $1,000 and $500,000 have been made available.

Community Development Assistance Grants. Brisbane City Council provides specific funds for grants ranging from $2,000 to $30,000 for groups that specifically address social justice and community development.

Microsoft Community Assistance Initiative. Software and technical support is provided to registered non-profit community organizations throughout Australia that provide human services for disadvantaged groups or individuals.

The Community Benefit Funds Unit within the Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation administers four non-recurrent grant programs for not-for-profit organisations. For up-to-date information on the Gambling Community Benefit Fund, Jupiters Casino Community Benefit Fund, Breakwater Island Community Benefit Fund and Reef Casino Community Benefit Fund.

Telstra Foundation. The Telstra’s Kids Fund benefits organisations and activities involving the children of permanent Telstra staff and staff of Telstra’s wholly owned subsidiaries.

Can Do Community Awards. A financial reward of $4,000 for each of the state and territory winners & an additional $4,000 for the winning national entry, were made available under the Commonwealth Government’s Stronger Families and Communities strategy.
